The Bookworm's Guide to Flirting

What I thought I’d get on Valentine’s Day: a card.
What I got on Valentine’s Day: a blind date with my brand new roommate.

Let it be known that I, Saylor Green, am wholeheartedly against blind dating. I think it’s superficial, unnecessary, and designed wholly to force people into relationships they aren’t ready for.
It’s me. I’m people.
So when Dylan Parker takes the seat across from me, I’m ready to dismiss him at one glance.
The problem? He’s hot and funny and sweet and the exact kind of guy I read about in the romance novels I sell like hotcakes in my bookstore.
He’s also my new roommate.
Who likes to walk around in his sweatpants and peer over my shoulder and comment on all my online dating escapades.
When he offers to help me flirt my way to dating success, I’m all for it.
But what am I supposed to do when the only person I want to flirt with is... Dylan?

This one was such a charming read and I had such fun with it. It was quite interesting to see this book develop, I did physically read this one, although I think I do prefer her books in audio a bit more. This was one of those "roommates fall in love" type of book. There is a level of angst, as the hero and heroine like to tease each other and part of it hides their unrequited love for each other. There is plenty of fun bantering and I really had a blast in these two connecting with each other. I had a fun time in a way with these two. The heroine can be a bit prickly at times, so she takes some getting used to though. I really was interested to see how she would become likeable, but eventually the author was able to win her over for me.

Saylor lacks a filter. She’ll happily tell you what she’s thinking. When it comes to her roommate he better be prepared. Blind dates aren’t Saylor’s thing. Finding out the guy she’s set up with is her hot roommate doesn’t make it any better.

These two are entertaining right from the start. Dylan likes to push her buttons and Saylor is happy to tell him what’s on her mind.

The banter works well and the chemistry is both entertaining and flirty without them even realising it.

Another great read. I’m a huge fan of Emma Harts and I’m always on board to see what she comes up with next.

This series is full of bookworm jokes and typical thoughts which only adds to the humour.

The bookworms guide to flirting is the third book in this series. It can be read as a standalone but the series is about a group of best friends who own a bookstore.

5 out of 5. I’ve really enjoyed this series and I’m look forward to meeting more of the chapters in future books.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly im being generous with my rating because normally these type of sassy female characters who are more crude than funny make me feel uncomfy. Our male character takes in her sass but i just - - didn't find it funny. I also found this to be extremely friends to lover with little chemistry AND it was so slow burn. Took forever for them to do anything.

DNF @ 6%. I thought this looked funny and cute, but it only took one chapter to know it's not for me. That's not to say that it's not funny and cute. There was some banter that made me smile, but I know that I can't take a whole book in the main character's head. I really did not care for her and the general tone of the writing.

2.5 stars rounded up.

This was...mostly cute, but also forgettable? I THINK I like it best out of the whole series, but given that my main feeling about this series is Meh™, that's not quite the rec one is looking for.

I'm not feeling it to spend a lot of time on this review, so here are my main thoughts, pros and cons style:

✔ it was cute and easy to read

✔ bookworm in me related to a lot of things here (like just wanting your space to be able to spend the day reading and snacking)

✔ yeah, that's it lol

✘ was I reading Saylor's book? or was it Kinsley's? Holley's? really couldn't tell, because you know what? they all share all the same personality traits (bookworm + sarcastic) and JUST those personality traits, they talk in a similar way and it really felt like reading about a carbon copy of the character I already got introduced to in previous installments

✘ the big drama was ridiculous, as in Saylor tried to kiss Dylan when she was drunk and he declined because, you know, he's not trash, and she bit his head off, locked herself in her room for the night and next day, and didn't even allow him to explain that he DID want her, he just didn't want to take advantage

✘ chemistry levels? it's a bit lukewarm here, chief

✘ seriously, if I read a roommate romance, I want flirting, longing, accidental touches and brushing against each other in the kitchen WITH SPARKS, here it was all words and no actual heat

✘ there was one kinda hot scene where Dylan can hear Saylor getting herself off and starts to jack himself off in his own bedroom but then it never gets out that he heard her and there's no follow up kinda awkward but very sexually charged convo about it that leads to them making out on the couch so what's even the point?

I know, I have VERY specific expectations that weren't met here but the main complaint is this - it was lukewarm.

Also, the next spin off series is "Introvert's Guide" and first book is about Tori and you know what, OF COURSE I AM GOING TO READ IT INSTEAD OF DITCHING THIS SERIES WHY AM I LIKE THIS

P.S. Also, judging by what we've got of Tori's character so far...I don't think "introvert" means what the author think it means but ok

I always enjoy this author's low angst, banter-filled reads, but this one leaned into that a little bit too much, so the story ended up feeling shallow and kinda superficial. It's still a fun, playful read, but the heroine's personality gives this an over the top feel that makes the romance fade into the background. I loved the hero and the roommate storyline, which add an element of fun to this, but it's the weakest link in a series that has otherwise been a lighthearted treat for me.

The story follows Saylor, a woman who runs a bookstore with her closest friends. A few months ago, Dylan became her roommate. He's the friend of a friend, and isn't sure how long he'll be in town. While there's obvious attraction between them, neither one thinks it would be a great idea to cross any lines. Not only do they live together, but they have too many friends in common to deal with any awkward fallout. But that attraction is becoming more difficult to deny, and that all comes to a head after a blind date puts them together.

This is the kind of story that flies by, with a focus on friendship and humor. I've been loving this friend group and they play a big role in this, but the book isn't really long enough to accommodate the friendships AND the romance. The banter between Saylor and Dylan is fun to read, but there was never a point where I felt sexual tension or a shift in their relationship. Dylan even goes on a date with someone else - pretty far into the book - and it's just sort of brushed off. This needed a longer length and a little more focus to be successful as a romance, but it will still provide some light, fun entertainment. I received an early copy via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review of this roommate rom com.

Of course I’ve loved all this series, probably because I love this author so much! She is so great at making me laugh! And honestly, I should just know they are going to be 5 star reads for me. It’s seriously like every book in this series for sure I have immediately thought that the main character is basically me. I have so much in common with them, their thoughts, actions, love of books. Well, I guess the word bookworm in the title kind of made that obvious. But seriously, these characters are so much me! It’s like the author is creeping my Facebook page or my life and using me for these characters! Which is okay in my book, because I love it! Like for instance in this one, Saylor wants to watch a Harry Potter movie on tv even though Dylan reminds her they watched it just last week. That’s me. I love finding a good Harry Potter marathon on tv, because I’ll just leave it on the tv all day and enjoy it.

The banter between the characters is perfect as well. Has me laughing out loud all the time. In fact I love it so much I just think it would be a blast to hang out with the author, because surely the fact that she writes things the way I would think things means she is like that in real life, right?

This is a sweet, easy going romance, no big drama, just perfect for what I need and enjoy reading these days with the world as it is. Also there is all the bookish merchandise the girls are selling at their bookstore and I want it! Not to mention how much I wish I had some friends that I could open a bookstore with. Now that I don’t work at one anymore, I do miss it. And think it would be a blast to own my own independent store. If I win the lottery some day, maybe I’ll do that.

Some of the funnier points that I have to share, are when Dylan says that Americans always ask him if he knows the queen because he is British. Um, what? Really? Come on Americans, that would be like a British person asking us if we know the president just because we are American. And then, this little bit, I loved it so much!

One of Saylor’s friends joking about her: “She’s good in bed.”

Saylor’s response: “It’s true. I can sleep for hours.”

Loved it, loved it, loved! And we got some more people lined up in this series that I know the author is going to write books for, but it sounds like they will be a new series, one that I’m sure will win me over as well!

“Oooh, you stupid bitch!” I hissed at the page, shaking the book. “What’s wrong with you? Why are you like this? Do you hate yourself? Why don’t you want to fuck the hot mafia guy forever?
...
“What did they do now? Did they have a little misunderstanding that could have easily been resolved if they’d just talked? Like when she saw the guy with a woman on the train who turned out to be his sister?”
“It’s a different book, actually,” I retorted. Smartass. “She chose the wrong guy.”
“So like what happened in three other books this week.”
“Look. It’s not my fault I like a bad boy.”
“As evidenced by your long string of completely successful relationships with men from the mafia.”

Well, I’ve been dying to read the last book of this series! Sailor Green, the most blunt, foul mouth, out there of the bookworms! And I was a little underwhelmed...

Don’t get me wrong I absolutely loved the book, it’s just that the story was really short... it had potential to be better, greater,... longer! And yes despite Holley and Kinsley making appearances through the book, mainly to annoy and make Sailors life so much more complicated and interesting, but... you know, I feel like I needed more!

“Huh?” I jerked my head up. “I don’t smell anything.”
“Of course you don’t, darlin’.” He walked over with a grin. “You can’t smell your own bullshit.”

Sailor and Dylan are roommates. If you haven’t read the previous books the fact it’s thrown at you rather quickly. It’d have been nice to have a glimpse at their first meet up.
Sailors Landlord decided to update her rent so she no longer can afford it. Sebastian (Holley boyfriend, book 2) suggests Dylan, his physical doctor and best friend.

“I can’t take anymore of that accent and those stupid freakin’ gray sweatpants that are basically lingerie, thank you very much.”

The arrangement goes well, for a short while, until the two can no longer keep things platonic.

“I swear to God, I will stab my heel in your balls.”

Overall I’m a sucker for Miss Hart sense of humor... and I wish we had a book all about the retirement home and there habitants... cause that’s a whole other level.

The Bookworm’s Guide to Flirting is the third book in the Bookworm’s Guide Series and it follows the story of Dylan and Saylor. The last thing on Saylor’s mind is getting set up on a blind date. She’s totally against it. But, when her friends beg her to participate, she can’t say no. What she least expected was to find her roommate Dylan sitting across from her. He’s funny, sweet, and has all the qualities you’d want to find in a great book boyfriend. The problem? You guessed it. He’s her roommate. At first, the two of them laugh it off as a plan their buddies put together but quickly turns into more. Suddenly, Dylan is looking more interesting to Saylor. And when Dylan offers to help Saylor with her flirting, all bets are off. Will these two open their eyes and take a chance on what’s in front of them? There’s only one way to find out….

The Bookworm’s Guide to Flirting is a quick and entertaining read. I thought this story was written well and I loved Emma Hart’s signature humor. You can easily find yourself devouring this book in just a few short hours. I thought the idea of this story was a lot of fun. I was entertained by the banter and humorous moments. I loved the chemistry that Dylan and Saylor shared. Dylan was exactly the guy Saylor could see herself with but she had to get over the fact that he was her roommate. That fact alone, had me dying to see what would happen between the two of them.

Overall, I had a fun time getting swept up in Saylor and Dylan’s story. It was really easy to connect with and get lost in these two. Emma Hart delivers another wonderfully entertaining read that is sure to leave readers glued to the pages right until the very end. And I for one, can not wait to see what this author has in store for us readers next!

This was another fun, quick read filled with all kinds of goodness from Dylan, Saylor and the entire White Peak crew and then some!

I adored Dylan and Saylor. Dylan is such a good guy, sweet, charming, observant and has a wicked sense of humor. Saylor was a lot of fun to get to know. She is a true bookworm with a “senior citizen’s soul”, but also has just enough moxie to make you want to know just what is going inside that brain of hers.

Their journey to the HEA was a lot of fun and I really liked the fact that their hesitation on jumping into anything really had to do with the fact that they truly liked each other, okay, Saylor didn’t want to look for another roommate should things not work out romantically, but it all boiled down to the fact that their friendship meant a lot to them. Their bantering was on point, their flow worked for me and I just loved being along for the ride as they figured out, with a little help from friends and family, that they could possibly have it all.

And speaking of their friends and family. A good part of the reason I loved this book was because of the White Peak crew. I loved catching up with everyone, from their friends that were partnered up to the ones that were and the grandparents were all kinds of crazy fun ~ especially when it comes to the ducks. There were a few newbies on the scene, I already LOVE Leonard, and cannot wait to get to know Piper and London a lot better. But up next are Tori and Colt (Spinoff series, but connected to this one) and I’m totally looking forward to watching the sparks fly between them!

I absolutely love Saylor and Dylan and while I am sad this was the last book in the Bookworm's series I am so happy that we will not be leaving this town. I have fallen in love with not only the owner's of the bookstore but also the town as a whole.

Saylor is my favorite heroine in a really long time. Her sarcastic humor and approach to life reminded me of myself in the dating world. Does she know how to flirt...nope..does she want to spend her time out finding a man..nope..she just wants to be a girl on her couch with a great book. Did I mention I was currently sitting on the couch reading this great book? Dylan is new to the U.S. and realized very quickly his attraction to his new roommate but they both agree it is not something they should act on since they enjoy living together.

I absolutely love Emma Hart's HEA stories because not only are you getting a great love story but you are also getting a lot of quick wit and sarcasm. Plus who does not want to visit the Retirement Home and feed the ducks!!!

Thank you to Emma Hart for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited to read Saylor's book as I have been looking forward to this whilst reading this series, and particularly after reading the previous book.

Saylor and Dylan were amazing. They were a lot of fun to read and get to know, and I really enjoyed Saylor's personality. She was quite funny and I found myself laughing at all her quirks. Dylan is such a sweetie, and I'd like to ask Emma Hart where I can myself a Dylan? Hahaha.

I enjoyed all the moments with the rest of the gang and the oldies too. Emma Hart has created an awesome little world with these books and I enjoy returning to it each and every time. Really looking forward to more from this world, and definitely recommend.

The Bookworm’s Guide to Flirting is the 3rd book in "The Bookworm’s Guide" series by Emma Hart. This is Saylor and Dylan's story. Saylor is the sassiest, grumpiest, beautiful, fiery, and out of the 3 girls, is really the truest diehard "bookworm". She is just a woman who really is simple and doesn't want to overcomplicate to life. Dylan is Saylor’s roommate. He's British, sexy, fun, has great humor, loves working out and loves tea. He didn’t accept Saylor as she was but he understood her, flaws and all. Theirs was a friendship. A slowburn friends to lovers romance. We see how they start, where the burn was, "is" and goes from a simmer to a complete explosion with fireworks 🎆. This book has the witty humor, steamy passion, and sassy characters. Enjoyed the plot, likeable characters and fantastic chemistry between the main characters. What love that gave such feels! Really good read.

Cute and sweet with lively banter and a little snark. The audiobook has strong narrators. Was what I was looking for in a light summer/vacation read and I'll likely check out the others in the series when I need something fun that clips along at a fast rate.

This book just like the previous one in the series had no story at all. Emma Hart should definitely up her game. This book felt like my younger sister could write it, no imagination at all.

I love Saylor and Dylan but this book was just a record of them goofing around. No development apart from roommates to that now they are in a relationship.

But even after all this i enjoyed every moment of this book it was so enjoyable. The bookworm stuff was so relatable. And i am sad i never get to know about Colton and Tory

Let’s talk about “The Bookworm’s Guide to Flirting by Emma Hart”, third book in the The Bookworm’s Guide series.
📚
Emma brought the guns to this series, since it’s packed with lot of banter, romance, crazy situations, laughter and amazing friendship. All wrapped up in a world of books, since all three of the leading ladies of the series are co-owners of the Bookworm’s Books and crazy about all things books, just-like-us! Now we are given Saylor’s story and she is all about sarcasm, pink hair, sassiness, a little (or a lot) of crazy and pure fun. At one point in the book I really thought that would be very difficult to live in her head!

Add to this story her new roommate, Dylan, the best buddy to Seb (from previous book) and the all fitness personal trainer that is not boring at.all! Oh I forgot the most important: he is British, you’re welcome! Together they the epitome of an opposite couple but yet they complement each other perfectly. I loved their banter, and even when he wanted to go hiking and she wanted to stay in bed, drinking wine and reading, they still found a compromise. They worked together quiet beautifully they just need to discover this.

My favorite parts of this book was when everyone got together to hang out, they were fun or every time Dylan showed up, because I swoon any time or when I could relate with Saylor so much over her book obsession. Did I enjoyed this book? Of course. Did I hoped that this would had more steam, since Saylor was the most straightforward of them all? You bet! But anyway, as usual, I had a lot of fun with an Emma’s story.

If you're in the mood for a cute romantic comedy I highly recommend The Bookworm’s Guide to Flirting. It's the third and final book in the Bookworm's Guide series about three friends who own a bookstore in Montana.

I was so excited for Saylor's story, having met her in the first two books in this series. Saylor doesn't have a filter and she has a lot of spunk. As the only one out of the bookstore owners that is single, she gets set up on a blind date by her friends. She is not excited. Then she finds out that she's been set up by her hot roommate she is positive she doesn't like blind dates.

This book was entertaining. I loved the chemistry between Dylan and Saylor. I enjoyed watching Dylan push Saylor's button. Watching the two of them get together was great.

I enjoyed the bookworm jokes and found that this book was funny.

As always the residents of the retirement village and their ducks were a hoot. I was always chuckling when they were there, especially when they did yoga with Dylan.

I am excited that Tori will have a story in The Introvert's Guide to Online Dating!

Witty banter at it's best! The Bookworm's Guide to Flirting is chock full of laughter and romance. Please do NOT eat or drink while reading this story, as I can guarantee (from experience) it won't end well. This was the perfect ending for The Bookworm's Guide series, filled with witty banter, hilarious senior citizens, and romance that will sweep you off your feet.

The highlights for me were the cleverly created merchandise for the bookstore, and if it's a real thing, I'm ordering them asap! Here's an example of my favorite two:

"My books are hotter than this coffee."

"I take a different man to bed every night."

I can't wait for the new Introvert's Guide series, featuring characters we already know and love! Emma Hart has created a wonderful world that any reader can escape into, time and time again.

This is the third and final book in The Bookworm’s Guide series. It can be read as a standalone, so if you haven’t jumped into the series yet, you can still start with this one.

Saylor has a crush on her British roommate, Dylan. Dylan also has a crush on Saylor, but neither want to ruin their roommate arrangement. Their friends decide to give them a little push by setting them up on a blind date, and Dylan volunteers to teach Saylor how to flirt. Saylor is feisty, but Dylan is up for the challenge. Their romance is a slow burn that’s filled with plenty of the author’s signature humor.

Readers who have read the other books will be happy to see the grandparents are still up to their antics in the nursing home. I’m hoping we’ll get to see them again in the next series.

If you’re looking for a funny read and enjoy the friends-to-lovers trope, you’ll want to give this book a read.

A roommate romance that is full of laughs and chemistry!

Saylor, co-owner of a bookstore, is done with men after a string of bad luck when it comes to them. Dylan is her roommate and the man is gorgeous and British. They have such amazing banter and it had me laughing so much throughout the story. Not to mention the chemistry between them. There is an attraction between them but they both fight it since they are also roommates, but that can only be avoided for so long.

Dylan and Saylor are perfect for each other, they balance each other and they know they can already live together. I loved reading how these two went from just being two roommates to becoming something more. Plus, there was more from the previous couples and of course, my favorite geriatric group and ducks!

If you’re looking for a roommates rom com this is one to read!

Thank you Emma Hart for the gifted ARC in exchange for an honest review.

**3.5 Star**

The Bookworm's Guide to Flirting by Emma Hart follows the story of Saylor and Dylan. It's a slow burn, roommate story of opposites: a bookworm and an athletic trainer. The banter between the two is amazing. I laughed at their antics and blushed at their steamy scene. I adored the bookstore scene as Emma Hart captures the feelings of a bookwork wandering around a bookstore flawlessly. However, although the book is centered around Saylor and Lucas, there needed to be more scenes of the two of them instead of talks of bookish merchandise and hang out with friends. It almost feels like I missed the part where they fell for each other.

Anyways, I still recommend this book to fans of Emma Hart, to romance fans of fun and steamy reads and to fans of the roommate troupe. It will definitely put a smile on your face.

This is the third book in The Bookworm's Guide series and even though it's a standalone in the series I highly recommend reading the series in order to get the full enjoyment.

I love that everytime I start an Emma Hart book I can count on a fun, quick, easy read that grabs my attention from the first page to the last. Saylor and Dylan's story was filled with witty banter, snarky comments, nosy friends, hilarious seniors and so much sexual chemistry you could feel it coming off the pages. If you love a slow burn that will have you laughing and smiling then I definitely recommend this hilarious read!
