The Introvert's Guide to Blind Dating

Rate this book
Blind dating: the act in which you date a stranger and hope it’s not the kid you once babysat. And try not to freak out when it’s your one-night stand from two weeks ago.

As the last woman standing, I, Piper Carter, am officially a loner.

Apparently, that means it’s time for me to get out there and find myself a man. My protestations that I have no time for it falls on deaf ears and the next thing I know, I’m on a blind date with someone my best friends assure me will be perfect for me.

Maverick Donovan, the guy I, uh, know very, very well…

After one conversation that makes my disdain for this setup very clear, the superstar playboy author asks me for only one thing: my help with his research for his next novel.

Turns out, the heroine in his next hot romance is the owner of a bakery, but all his ill-fated efforts are baking is the batteries in his fire alarm.

I agree. I’ll create some recipes for his leading lady, and he’ll credit me and my store, giving me the recognition I need to help me on my way to franchising.

If only we didn’t have to spend almost every free waking moment together to make it happen.

I don’t want to give my heart to the guy with a trail of broken ones behind him, but there’s a fundamental problem with that plan.

I’m pretty sure I’m doing just that…

This was a fun and flirty read! The story was pretty tame but I don’t need a lot of heat to hold my interest. This novella-length romance is part of The Introvert’s Guide series, all stand-alone stories with a few recurring characters. This is a quick listen so things get started pretty quickly and it didn’t take long for me to be hooked. I had a fantastic time with this story.

Piper is not looking to date since she is focusing all of her energy on her business. Her friends didn’t get the message through and the next thing she knows they have talked her into going on a blind date. When she shows up for her date, she realizes it isn’t quite so blind since she has already been out with Maverick, and their previous date got very friendly so she already knows what he has to offer. Maverick is a romance author writing a book that has a main character that is a baker. He needs to learn more about what goes into running a bakery plus a few recipes so Piper may be just the help he needs. As they spend more time together, sparks begin to fly and they realize that there might be something there.

I liked Piper and Maverick a lot and thought that they made a fantastic couple. They had a lot of chemistry together and seemed incredibly comfortable together from the start. It was fun to watch Maverick try to fit in with Piper’s group of friends. I loved the way that Maverick seemed to be willing to take things at whatever speed Piper needed. I found their relationship to be very believable.

Savannah Peachwood and Tim Paige did a fantastic job with the narration. It seemed like we heard more from the female narrator than the male but that is due to how the book was written. I felt like both of the narrators did a great job bringing the characters to life and I like all of the different voices that they used. I do think that their narration added to my overall enjoyment of this story.

I received a review copy of this audiobook from Dreamscape Media via NetGalley.

Initial Thoughts
This was a fun and flirty read, although rather tame. I liked Piper and Maverick a lot and thought that they made a fantastic couple. It was fun to watch Maverick try to fit in with Piper's group of friends. The pair of narrators did a wonderful job with the story. I found this to be a nice distraction for a few hours. I cannot wait to read more of this author's work in the future.

ARC kindly received for an honest review.

This was another fun trip to the world these characters are in. I love this town and the people, and this one was a very easygoing read. I liked the characters, and I enjoyed going along for the ride with them and getting to know them.

There was no angst, it was just a really nice development of a relationship. Of course I also loved seeing our favourites from the previous books too.

I enjoyed how easy and fun this one was to read. Would recommend.

The Author and the Baker. Where romance blossoms over the buns.

Piper is going on one last blind date for better or worse. What if that one evening turns into a business opportunity. Could the author have his own story to play out?

Another great book by Emma Hart. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As usual, I laughed a lot with another book by Emma Hart. And even when her characters are really all so different with their different personality quirks and such, I still seem to connect with them in some little way if not all the way. In this case it started out right away with Piper’s thoughts about vegetables on pizza. Another thing about Piper I agreed with is that I really wish people would just be straight about how they feel about you. I hate not knowing if someone likes me or not.

With Piper being a baker there was a lot of talk of food in this story. Plus, I really, really want to try a strawberry butterscotch cupcake now too. Anyone know where I can find one?

Maverick was almost the perfect book boyfriend, I mean, come on, a male romance author? As he said a few times, he spent his time writing about women, so in a weird way, he was kind of an expert. I liked his method of low-pressure wooing that he did with Piper.

Of course we also got time with the hilarious grandparents from the rest of both this series as well as The Bookworm’s Guide series. One thing I really liked in this one though, was having people realize just how crazy and unreal it could be. But when Piper told Maverick to be prepared, she wasn’t lying. Piper’s brother Josh made me mad, but it added a good bit of drama to the story, in a way that I really liked keeping the final drama from being a misunderstanding between the two main characters, something that often irritates me.

My only issues, aren’t really anything that is an issue though. For instance, some of the way the characters talked was just really just what is probably considered a regional dialect? Like I would normally say I was somewhere “in the morning”. The characters in the books said when they were here “on a morning”. And then they went to something that they called a funfair. I’ve always just heard it called a fair or a carnival. Like I said, silly things to complain about, and I’m not really complaining, just mentioning my thoughts.

Piper and Maverick were amazing!!! She was so involved in her business and growing it that she had no time to date. But Maverick changed all of that. They started out really cute very nice friends and then it grew into more. It was such a beautiful story how supportive they were gif each other’s careers. And of course the banter and the secondary characters couldn’t be left behind. Great story!!

As the last woman standing, Piper can’t help but feel like a loner. Despite having no time or real interest in dating, Piper’s happily paired and good intentioned friends, can’t help but set her up on a blind date. Unfortunately, Piper knows her blind date, Maverick Donovan all too well and after a single conversation with him, it’s quite clear that the only thing he wants from Piper is help researching his next novel.

Overall, I thought this book was a really cute read. I loved Piper and her independence. She’s thrilled that her friends are happy and have found love, but that just isn’t a priority of hers right now. As for Maverick, I thought he was a really interesting character. I mean, a man who writes romance! Please tell me more. Together, these two made for a most interesting pairing. I enjoyed their banter and the push and pull between them. I enjoyed their chemistry and was excited to see where their story would go.

This wouldn’t be an Emma Hart novel without her signature humor and wit. And let me tell you, this book delivered on those fronts. The Introvert’s Guide to Blind Dating is smartly written and entertaining. It’s filled with heart and well meaning friends and family. And of course, it’s got just the right mix of romance and a dash of drama. In the end, this is a book that you can easily finish in a single sitting and it will leave you with a huge smile on your face.

Piper is the last of her group of friends not to have a significant other, and that is perfectly fine with her. However, they won’t let her be, and she is forced into a blind date with the guy it turns out she recently had a one-night-stand with, Maverick. Not only that, but she is a baker, and he is a writer writing a romance where the female lead is a baker. His own baking attempts have not gone well, so he strikes a deal with her – she will provide some recipes for his book and show him some of her routine in her bakery in exchange for some cash and his crediting her and her store in his book when it is published. Spending so much time with Mav might just remind her of the chemistry they had together that first night.

This is my favorite book of the series, although the debut didn’t set a high bar to beat. Though this book is the last in the Introvert trilogy, they can all be read as stand-alones. There is a lot here to love for typical romance readers – a bakery full of delicious foods, a guy who writes romance novels, and friends who own a bookstore! Despite the way Piper and Mav met (off the page, before the book begins), this is a tame romance. It was a cute, quick story, and the narrators did a good job with the audiobook.

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

Piper is the last single person in her group of friends, so naturally they are trying to find her someone special in the form of blind dates. Except this perfect guy she is meeting just so happens to be a playboy and author, Maverick.

There was an instant attraction for Maverick, but for Piper she is not for anything further than the blind date. But when he makes her an offer that she can’t refuse and they begin spending more time together everything starts to change. I loved the chemistry between Maverick and Piper from the start. I loved seeing their relationship progress throughout the course of the story.

This story is full of plenty of delicious sounding treats, so I highly suggest a sweet treat or any of your other favorite snacks while reading because you’ll want them. I was dying to taste the creations that Piper created for Maverick’s book!

The epilogue! It was a great goodbye to all the people I’ve grown to love in White Peak. I loved all these characters and of course, the grandmas and ducks!

If you’re looking for a small town, rom com this is one to check out.

Now that Piper’s friends have found the men they were destined to spend their lives with they want the same thing for Piper whether she wants it or not. Piper’s plans for the future all revolve around the ongoing success of her bakery but convincing her friends of that is another matter. She believes it is just easier to give in when they set her up on a blind date however the surprise is on her when it turns out they share a past even if it is only for one night.

Maverick is a romance author who is trying to finish his latest book. When he finds out who his blind date is he is pleasantly surprised and isn’t about to just let her walk away a second time, so he convinces her that she is the perfect person to help him finish his book. Let the good times begin!

Fun and flirty I enjoyed the humorous banter between Piper and Maverick as the romance between them developed and as always there is a great cast of unique secondary characters that enhance the story.

With very little steam but a whole lot of swoon, The Introvert's Guide to Blind Dating is about a baker who doesn't want to date and a romance writer who pursues her anyways. Piper and Maverick's story is kind of a book within a book as Piper assists Maverick with his current work in progress. The two have major chemistry and their story is super sweet (pun intended).

As this is the last book in White Peak, Emma Hart wrote her fans a little summary of each of the couples lives within the epilogue. It was such a great way to wrap up both the Introvert's Guide and the Bookworm's Guide series and yet, also a little bittersweet.

Copy of the book provided by the author. Thank you, Emma!

Received an early edition of this on audio through NetGalley and Dreamscape Media!

Well, this was a lot of fun. I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook, and really enjoyed the narrators. One of my favorite experiences with narrators, to tell you the truth.

The story itself is really cute. Almost painfully cute. I had a lot of fun following Piper and Maverick's relationship, and enjoyed their banter a lot.

There were plenty of funny little lines and moments too. I haven't read the other books in this series yet, but it's likely that I will go back and read them after this one.

I enjoyed this one. It was funnier than the previous one and we saw a bit more of the crazy grandparents. Though it didn’t have any of the “fun” scenes in it, it was enjoyable and a really quick read. I was all about the snarky comebacks throughout the book. And since this was the last one set in Montana I’m looking forward to the author’s next books.

The Introvert's Guide to Blind Dating
by Emma Hart
Narrated by Savannah Peachwood & Tim Paige

I received a copy of this audiobook from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third book in a trilogy “The Introverts Guide To…” Online Dating is the first book and Speed Dating is the second: both of which I also listened to and loved.

While this is a trilogy - the trilogy is a spin off from 2 previous series following a group of friends. The One Night Stand Next Door/The Girl Next Door. The Bookworms Guide to Dating/Faking It/Flirting. While it’s not completely necessary to have read these books previously I can see where it would make the pay off more enjoyable. This being the last single friend in the group the epilogue does include bits about the other couples.

Some back story is indicated but I did not feel like I was missing much. I don’t even think it’s really essential to have read the previous books to enjoy this one. So this one can be read as a standalone in my opinion but you may not care as much about the epilogue.

This was a shorter audiobook coming in at 4 hours 19 min - something you can easily listen to all in one day which is sometimes just what you need.

This was a great cast of characters again especially the side jaunts to visit the wacky grandparents in the nursing home and their chickens. The older generations antics have continued as the B plot throughout the series.

Heroine is a small town bakery owner/baker who wants to franchise. Hero is a romance author writing a book about a bakery romance but knows nothing about baking. I was about 38% in when I had to text a friend who is a bakery owner/baker to tell her to check it out!

I love the alternating male - female narration. The narrators were phenomenal and sound quality could not have been better.

This was a fun, short, small town, contemporary rom com with much less steam than its predecessors. Closed door in fact but still fun. 5/5

***5 Stars***

This was a quick, funny, sweet, slow burn and hunger inducing read, but also had me pouting a little at the end since it may be a while until we get to hang out again in White Peak (crossing toes that a certain secondary character will get a book, so we can return). But, all in all, this was a fun read.

I adored Piper and Mav. Piper is driven, snarky and honest. She knows what she wants and is open about what she can and cannot handle in any given situation. Mav is observant, charming and sweet. Their journey to their HEA was a fun one. There is minimal drama, at least between them, and it made watching as they became friends and more highly enjoyable. Their bantering was on point and while there isn’t much smexy time in this one, the chemistry between them was undeniable and I really liked how things worked out for them in the end.

As always, I love getting to spend time in White Peak. The smalltown feel combined with the unique cast of characters that reside there always put a smile on my face. This appears to be the end of our time here, but there are still a few singletons running around, along with the ducks and chickens, so hopefully we’ll get to head back there one day.

The Introvert's Guide to Blind Dating by Emma Hart is the third book in the Introvert's Guide series and it is a HOOT! Seriously, it constantly made me chuckle and I finished it with a huge smile on my face!

Piper and Maverick are delightful! Piper is driven, cute, dedicated, sweet, a little gun shy, and focused on doing what makes her happy, however she can. Maverick is charming, witty, capable and talented, and a go-getter, willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish what he's set out to do.

They both take huge leaps of trust, and set themselves up to have to spend time together, and you know that those antics will work sheer magic for us on the page! And they ABSOLUTELY do! Each interaction, each exchange of banter, each heated moment of chemistry and shared look, it is DIVINE.

This is a delightful opposites attract, a dash of mutual pining, a smidgen of will they won't they, and a healthy glug of anticipation, all essential components in the recipe making up this book! So, what are you waiting for? This story is seasoned perfectly to taste, I promise!

P. S. I adored continuing to get to see the whole gang! All the snark, banter, and well intentioned things that just don't always go quite to plan, it's sheer PERFECTION!

5 star review The Introverts Guide To Blind Dating (The Introvert’s Guide #3) by Emma Hart

The Introverts Guide To Blind Dating was a fun story that was entertaining with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in. I really liked Piper Carter and Maverick Donovan, both separately and as a couple.

As the last one in their group single, Piper is frustrated when she is set up on a blind date, especially when she finds out that the man in questions is playboy, Maverick. It was entertaining to watch the push and pull in their relationship as Piper finally agrees to help him with his research for his latest book.

What follows is an entertaining story that had me laughing out loud on numerous occasions and ticked the boxes for me. The chemistry between them is intense and I really enjoyed watching their relationship progress. I really loved how sassy and feisty Piper is and Maverick was so swoon worthy and the banter between them was witty.

This was a great conclusion to the series which I have enjoyed.

The Introvert's Guide to Blind Dating by Emma Hart is a fun, light-hearted romance. I was immediately drawn in by the charming characters and punchy dialogue. This is the third in this spin-off series and I enjoyed it as much as the others. It's easy to follow without having read the other book(s). The novel was sharply written and moved quickly.

The book revolves around Piper, a bakery owner; and Maverick, a romance writer visiting her small town. They start a friendship based on him writing a character who is a baker in his newest novel and begin a friendly collaboration. I found them both relatable and charming and enjoyed their chemistry. I do wish they got together earlier and it was a little steamier, but I enjoyed the story. I listened to the audiobook, which was very well narrated and enjoyable. Overall, it was a fun, sweet short read and great addition to the series.

Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for providing this audiobook ARC.

FUN, that is what this one was, just pure FUN. Piper is focused on her business and doesn't have time for dating and she is the first one to tell her friends this but she caves and lets them set her up for a blind date. Only when she shows up for this blind date it turns out to not be a blind date at all but someone she knows...and has been intimate with. Maverick is a romance writer and he has moved to town to write his latest book. It just happens it involves a bakery and he doesn't know the first thing about baking. When he finally gets Piper to agree to help him, for a price, with his book, things really heat up. Will they be able to find a happy ending with no only the recipes but with story ending too?

I really enjoyed this one!

Yep. This final book in the series was just as enjoyable as the previous two (or if you also count the bookworms, 5.) I absolutely loved this book and I'm so happy to have read the series, but I'm also sad to see that I finished it. I really loved the characters, the stories and I'm going to miss them. It was the perfect finale to the series though and it was a strong end. It was just as fun, quick and easy-to-read as all the previous books and I definitely recommend this book and series.

This is by far my favorite book by Emma Hart. It was sweet, funny and absolutely amazing story about how a one night stand turns into a real friendship which leads to true love and HEA.

I'm not sure who I loved more; Piper or Maverick. Everything about their relationship spoke to me. It was so easy to fall for them both. He was a real sweetheart and she was a bit quirky and a lot of funny.

If there ever was a book that you need to make you laugh, it's this one! Trust me when I say you'll not regret it!!!

The Introvert’s Guide to Blind Dating is the third and final book in The Introvert’s Guide series, and the author has saved the best for last. Piper and Maverick are great together. The book is full of the author’s standard humor, and I loved getting to see all the grandparents in action again. Maverick’s reaction to their antics was comical. If you’re looking for a sweet, funny romance with plenty of quirky characters, you should give this book a read.

I was, honestly, pretty bored. I didn't feel any attachment to any of the characters. I kept finding grammar and usage mistakes that drug me out of the story. The male romantic lead ordered a Budweiser, and that really got me for some reason. It felt like a way to pass the time, but not an incredibly-entertaining one.

Best of the three, but little drama except sibling drama.

Piper has a one night with writer Mav and then is set up with him on a blind date. In a sorta creepy "business" move, he offers to pay her to watch her bake as research.

When she finally agrees to see where things go with him, Josh ends up being a big d*ck about it and to Mav.

At only 151 pages (and 4 hours audio... which, if you're like me and listen faster than 1x) this is a SUPER quick read. A nice little palate cleanser.

The cover is fun, and so is the story line. Nothing too over the top dramatic happens between the MC and her love interest to make them fight and break up (for that I am thankful) and it's on the gentler side of the romance, which is also a nice change of pace.

There was a brief moment when I had this series mixed up with the author's bookworm series (and didn't figure that out until I started this review. Whoops!) Overall this was an enjoyable read, and I now need to go find the rest of this series.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to listen to this audiobook.
