BAD IDEA #241: Sending a dirty text to your number neighbor.
In my defense, my friends did it too, and their neighbors took it as the joke it was.
Mine didn’t.
He responded with a dirty text of his own. Next thing I know, I have a standing texting date every night at ten-thirty.
Until I have to miss it because the stray kitten who adopted me one week ago is sick. The only person I know who can help me at this time of night is my British next-door neighbor and local vet, Isaac Cooper.
I’ll keep him overnight, he says. Here’s my number to call me in the morning, he says.

DNF @ 35%
I cannot believe this book was written in 2020 and contained the phrase "you're in America, speak American". Disgusting. First of all, "American" is not a language. Second of all, the character who is British, said "post box" instead of "mail box" and you can't figure out what that means? How stupid are you? The below exchange is where I angrily DNF'd and deleted the book from my Kindle. Gross and disappointing.

“Takeout, Hannah. It’s what you weirdos call takeout.”
“I take offense at being called a weirdo. You’re the weird one. You’re in America. Speak American.”

Hanna’s replies back and they end up sexting for a few nights.
The Hero: Isaac - he is British but lives in America and is a local veterinarian. He gets a text message from an unknown number and answers the text, starting a sexting session with the woman whom he pictures as Scarlet Johansen.
The Story: When Hannah brings her sick cat over to Isaac’s who she has been crushing on for months, he volunteers to take the cat into his office in the morning and get the cat looked over and medicated. He gives Hannah his phone number and tells her to call him when she gets off work the next day. It isn’t long before Hannah sees that Isaac is her number neighbor.
This book is told in dual points of view in dual narration. It was narrated by Avery Reed and Will Watt. Avery Reed has a very feminine and nervous sounding voice which worked very well for Hannah who was new to sexting and extremely anxious through much of the story. I did not like Will Watt’s voice though. He did have a good British accent, but it wasn’t the sexy voice that Hannah described. It ruined the whole thing for me.

Not the worst but still... the MC was a little bit dumb.

My gaze followed where he was pointing to—to the big, suspiciously green plant in the corner of my living room. “That’s not a plastic plant.”
“Has it ever grown?”
“I don’t know. I don’t pay attention to those things.”
Isaac stood and reached for my hand. He pulled me to my feet and across the room, then put my fingers against one of the leaves.
“See? Plastic.”
I blinked. Holy shit. It was plastic. I’d been watering a plastic plant for two years.
“Oh, my God,” I whispered. “I am such an idiot.“

Not a fan of either MC. I don’t think 25 and 27 yr olds are “new adults”, right? At that age, I wasn’t so “hard up” for nookie that I’d be willing to sext with a stranger. A stranger!!!! Didn’t their parents teach them (when they were in nursery/kindergarten!!!) about stranger-danger???!!!
Oy.
Furthermore, I had no idea (until I talked to my bestie about this book earlier this afternoon) that this was based on a real life “challenge” or trend among millennials. Say what???
And honestly, given what’s happening nowadays with the Covid19 pandemic, I’m not in the best mood for crazy shenanigans. From anyone. Of any kind.
So a forever kind of love that develops out of a challenge/trend/dare between drunk friends??? Give me a break.
I finished the book because I paid for it. But I have to say that this purchase hurt because I’m so bummed about the story, the characters.
Sorry to the fans.

I'm kinda disappointed that the ending felt. Eh atleast to me.. like adopt cats and epilogue and driving and i love you. Like i wanted more.
Also i I would have liked it more if the grandma would have tone down whatever she was on she was just to much to rude.. to annoying...and Hannah wasnt so stupid on Issac slang for British words.. like even i knew what he was saying.

Number Neighbors follows the story of Hannah and Isaac. Hannah and Isaac’s story had quite an interesting start. It started off as a fun moment between friends where they would text their number neighbors. But, when Hannah texted her number neighbor, she got a little more than what she bargained for. It was supposed to be one night of naughty texting with a mysterious stranger, but it quickly turned into more. Suddenly, Hannah has a standing sexting date every night. It’s fun and exciting…that is until Hannah accidentally discovers who her number neighbor is….
Number Neighbors was a fun and sexy read. I loved the interactions between Hannah and Isaac. Their sexting was hotter than hot, but their in person chemistry burned even hotter. These two made me laugh and had me hanging on each word and interaction. The supporting cast added to the humor and entertaining moments.
Number Neighbors is a wonderful romantic comedy. It’s fun and entertaining. It’s sexy and has lots of laugh out loud moments. And the best part is there is no drama. It’s just a straight up romantic comedy that will leave you with a smile on your face.

And we have another winner!
Not that I’m surprised in the least, but, and I know I’ve said this about many of this author’s books, but this baby was such a fun read. It’s all kinds of sweet, snarky, smexy and funny with a huge dose of heart tossed into the mix that kept me turning the pages until the very end and wishing there were more words to read.
I adored Hannah and Isaac. Hannah is sweet, sassy and snarky and has a kinder heart than even she realizes. Isaac is simply a good man. He has a good heart and has just enough alpha in him to take charge of a situation without going all caveman about it. Their journey to their HEA starts out on an interesting foot, but once they both get over their initial shock of just who their number neighbor is, things were all kinds of fun. Of course a sick kitten, nosey cousin and crazy smut loving grandmother do help nudge things along and I really loved how everything worked out for them in the end.
Sometimes you just need a fun, quick, low on angstyness read and this one fit the bill in every way for me. I loved catching up with Mason, Immy and Maya. I have a soft spot for cute, mischievous animals and Lucifer definitely added some spice and cuteness to the book and then there is Grandma Jen and the book club ladies. Their antics had me laughing out loud, and outside of a few...fashion choices, I kinda want to grow up to be like them.
Note: You don’t have to read Frenemies to enjoy Number Neighbors, but considering Hannah and Immy are cousins and Grandma Jen is their grandmother, I highly recommend you do to get the full impact of their family dynamic.

Number Neighbors is Emma Hart’s newest funny AF novel. It is a complete standalone but if you read Frenemies then you will remember Hannah, Imogen’s cousin and prank partner! Well, this is her story...
Who said sending a dirty text to you number neighbor was a good idea? Nobody, that’s who! Except, it was done by three women who had been drinking and having fun. And it was all fun and games till Hannah’s number neighbor texts back and is all for the dirty talk. So much so that it happens for a few nights. That was until she was hot with reality! Her number neighbors is her actual neighbor. As in her hot AF British neighbor who was also the sexy Vet in town. The one she has been crushing on since he moved in next door months ago. She was so f*cked and if Isaac was anything like he was in his texts...
Omg!! This book is hilarious!! I love Isaac, he is blunt, swoon-worthy, sweet, and funny. And damn, his accent? Yum!! And I might just have a girl crush on Hannah. She is feisty, funny and smart. Together, their banter is epic. Their chemistry is hot. Their story is sooo good. Emma added so much heat to this one. It was a perfect blend of all the feels.

This was another fun book from Emma Hart. Just what's needed at this current time of uncertainty in the world. It's light-hearted and fun, and a very easy read.
Hannah and Isaac are both really cool characters, with fun and cheeky personalities. I liked that Isaac is a British character with a sexy accent. (Although I did find it a bit hard to believe that Hannah wouldn't know some of the words he used. Maybe that's just me, because I'm Aussie, and it all made sense. Not sure).
Grandma Jen sure is a cracker, and Lucifer is a cheeky little character too. I liked the easiness of this one - the relationship, the smart/cheeky moments. It was just a nice and fluffy and fun book to read.
Would recommend.

This was another fun book from Emma Hart. Just what's needed at this current time of uncertainty in the world. It's light-hearted and fun, and a very easy read.
Hannah and Isaac are both really cool characters, with fun and cheeky personalities. I liked that Isaac is a British character with a sexy accent. (Although I did find it a bit hard to believe that Hannah wouldn't know some of the words he used. Maybe that's just me, because I'm Aussie, and it all made sense. Not sure).
Grandma Jen sure is a cracker, and Lucifer is a cheeky little character too. I liked the easiness of this one - the relationship, the smart/cheeky moments. It was just a nice and fluffy and fun book to read.

I wanted more from this book. I wanted more from the characters, more from the plot. I was kind of disappointed because I had high hopes for this book and it wasn't at all what I thought. The biggest thing was Hannah and Luke weren't fleshed out at all. Why I mention Hannah has a job she doesn't like if she seems perfectly content with it for most of the book and then wow Luke sister MIGHT be able to help her get a job in her field.

felt it was really short but i enjoyed hannah and isaac’s story. i loved how sassy hannah is, and her grandma is a gem. the main characters were really cute together and i liked tier banter. i do wish it was longer and that the number neighbour mystery aspect was dragged out longer to heighten the sexual tension and for them to know each other that way. but whatever happened between them was super adorable too.

So after delving into the deep dark depths of the zon trying with gusto to find a book that tickled my fancy I got fed up and downloaded a sample of this on a wim. That's it. Lucky for me this actually worked out real well and I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Now just being honest if you're looking for a real depthy book then you're probably not going to vibe with this one. I enjoyed this for that reason though. It doesn't take much thought because it's just one of those easy read no angst or drama cutsey stories.
Hannah was basically forced into a sexting game with her number neighbor by her sister and friend. Turns out they happened to be much much closer to eachother than either one of them realised.
Honestly it's just a feel good chuckle filled slowish burn romance that's start of a little quirky. I laughed ALOT!. Kind of wished I had a grandma Jen because that lady and her crazy shenanigans are fucking epic. And just enjoyed Hannah and Issac's sweet story.
It's feel good romance with a good dose of laughter and a splash of sexy to keep it all interesting. Ohh and the sexual tension of it all. Hot damn is was FIRE.
It served its purpose perfectly and satisfied my shitty mood.

So main reason I read this was because 1) I thought the concept with the whole number neighbours thing sounded hilarious, 2) it has a vet as the love interest, and 3) I knew it would be short and easy.
How was it to read? Meh. Entertaining and easy to read, sure, but having read multiple Emma Hart books in a row a few weeks ago things felt a bit repetitive.

Fantastic! Simple as that!!
With Number Neighbors Emma Hart brings us another fantastic laugh out loud hot as hell no drama llama romcom!!!
One drunken night Hannah decides to text her number and see what happens. She didn’t think the NN would answer, nor that she would sext with him...
Until she gets the phone number from her hot british neighbor in real life, as known as the vet in town, and realizes he’s the NN!!
Loved this book a lot, had so many laugh out loud moments, and finished this book in one sitting!!!

This book ese pretty entertaining and cute, but really didn't suck me in as much as other books I read from EH! Not a bad read tough!

Okay, as usual, Emma Hart’s latest had me rolling with laughter from page one! It really was perfect timing as I had a guy I’d been chatting with online who reminded me a bit of the whole conversations they were having before they found out who each other was. Now, I only recently found out about Number Neighbors when I got a text one day saying hi from my own number neighbor. But I was afraid it was a scam, so didn’t reply, and now after the hilarity of this book, I kind of wish I had at least said hi! While this book isn’t a part of a series, the main character Hannah, is cousins with Immy from Frenemies, which I loved! It also means that we got to enjoy their crazy grandmother, Jen, along with her crazy book club friends.
While I’m not really a cat person, I definitely adored little Lucifer, and loved what happened in the end with him. Again, as usual, Hart gives us the steaminess that I like, the snarkiness that cracks me up, as well as the sweet, romantic, happy ending that I live for.

A short hilarious and absolutely refreshing take on the recent social media viral act of texting your number neighbour; that is the number that is one number after yours – which is exactly what ends up happening when three friends come together fro a girls night out and force one of them, Hannah to dirty text her number neighbour.
For Hannah, it is a question of a dare when she does and more of a want when her number neighbour does end up texting back (FYI: the texting between them is H-O-T!). .
In reality, though Hannah is a single woman and a reluctant care giver for a kitten that has decided to adopt her, Lucifer, a cute adorable black kitten – when she finds herself in an emergency because of Lucifer, she has no choice but to contact her actual neighbour, a British vetnerian, a man she is crushing on, HARD!
It doesn’t take long for either of them to realise that they have been dirty talking to each other – and for them to take that relationship into the reality.
I listened to this book on audio – it was a light, fluffy and cute 5 hours spent; though the romance did tend to sizzle out, at least for me; but I still definitely enjoyed the book.
Neither does it take a genius to realise the reason behind me wanting to adopt a black kitten companion for my own ginger kitten!

I'm not overwhelmed, I am not underwhelmed... I'm just whelmed after finishing this book. The text conversations were great and so were the one on ones but that's just it. I don't have anything to gush over and it sucks. I love Emma Hart and I love her easy and flowing writing style and, sadly, I have not been a huge fan of a few of her recent releases.
If I am being brutally honest, I am tired of this formula of romantic comedies. It is the same thing over and over again, it's just a different book and the character names are different. I can't believe I am saying this but I've reached a stage where I am finding all of Hart's heroines overlapping.
I love Hart's brand of heroines, I do. They are witty, fun and sarcasm run through their veins along with coffee. I love these fiery women, but when every single female character, main and secondary, have the same characteristics, it starts to feel identical.
I miss the fleshed-out characters and storylines. I miss the plot-driven books. I miss the vulnerable, rounded characters that Hart used to write. I miss the chemistry and angst that she is so good at.
I know I'm in the minority but overall, I just wanted a lot more. But keeping my thoughts aside, if you are someone who is looking for a book that is easy and flowing with cute animals, specifically a cat named Lucifer (I imagined Tom Ellis every time for some insane reason) then pick this one up!

"Number Neighbors" by Emma Hart was exactly the book I needed to read right now to put a smile on my face and escape from the craziness of the real world. It was hysterically funny, sweetly romantic, and steamy at the same time, and I adored it.
The male lead character, British veterinarian Isaac, was a fantastic and completely swoon-worthy book boyfriend. His love for animals and sense of humor made him a great match for the female lead, Hannah, who was wonderfully snarky and independent. Their banter was very amusing, and I laughed out loud during many of their conversations. I especially loved when they argued over American vs. British words and sayings (mainly because I'm a language nerd and find differences in dialects fascinating).
The secondary characters in this book were also a tremendous amount of fun, especially Hannah's matchmaking Grandma Jen and Jen's friends from book club. I loved Hannah's "attack kitten," Lucifer, too. She could deny that she was keeping him all she wanted, but her love for him was clear in the way she took such good care of him.
Overall, I loved "Number Neighbors" and can't wait for Ms. Hart's next release!

First things first; I love the cover of this book!
This book is short (186pgs) fast paced and enjoyable. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters loveable and the storyline hilarious. This story is Hannah’s story who we met in Immy and Mason’s story. When Hannah’s best friends dare her to text her number neighbour, she doesn’t expect the outcome. When she finds out her number neighbour is closer to home than she thinks, what will she do? When Isaac makes his attraction known, will Hannah give love a chance?
The chemistry between Hannah and Isaac is clear to see and I loved them together. The spark between them is off the charts.
Just like in the previous book, I found grandma Jen hilarious.

Number Neighbors was such and enjoyable read. I have laughed at least once every chapter. By laughing, I mean I laughed so hard that tears were rolling down my face.

Frenemies made me really curious about Hannah and his hot, British neighbor, Isaac. Did you know he's also a vet? Sexy.
So what are the odds that your number neighbor is also your next-door neighbor? Possibly around a gazillion to one, but it happens to Hannah. She already had a huge crush on Isaac since forever but after he turns out to be the stranger she's had hot sexting sessions with? She's done for.

Number neighbors was a hilarious story with a hot Brit, adorable kittens, and a granny gang that was up to no good. I was hooked from the beginning. I laughed and swooned the whole time.

This book had me swooning over Isaac and wishing I could be Hannah! And I don't even like cats!!! Isaacs is a gentleman with a dirty side... Hannah is adorable and kind! Such a sweet and spicy romance! Hilarious book! Will definitely be reading more from this author! So glad I discovered her!
